#2 EDGE Job-Based Programme
For youth with disabilities, there are additional challenges to access the job, including a lack of opportunity for exposure to an array of career options and industry settings; insufficient staff to help youth learn how to access the necessary assistive technologies and other support services; and a concern by program staff that employers are unwilling to accept a referral for a youth with a disability, because there may be an adverse impact on performance outcomes.
The EDGE Job-based programme includes the following sections:
- Work-based set of methodologies (site visits, job shadowing, structured on-the-job training) tailored on specific needs of the target group. They will be included in a Practical Guide for in-company trainers and VET tutors, to organize work-based learning paths aimed at allowing an easier acquisition of technical skills, as well as the reinforcement of transversal competences such as troubleshooting, decision-making, leadership, problem solving;
- Inclusive Job Design guidelines, a practical manual addressed at supporting HR managers to structure working lives and roles to match individual and business needs. The guide will allow managers to shape, together with trainees, inclusive job requirements that meet everyone’s need;
- A set of instructions – written in EASY TO READ language – dedicated to young people with ID to guide them in approaching work-based experiences with more consciousness and information.
- Organization of 6 months pilot testing to test the whole training/placement path in Italy, Portugal, Austria, with the involvement of N. 5 + 2 final beneficiaries and the same amount of companies
